Kick the Cup!
While playing the Kick the Cup Alphabet Activity children will:
- identify letters by name (or sight words)
- identify letter sounds
- develop gross motor skills like balance and coordination while kicking the ball
This activity is very easy to set up and do with your child. You only need a few simple materials that are easy to pick up at the store.
Materials Needed:
- plastic or styrofoam cups
- permanent marker
- ball
Arrange the cups outside and, calling out a letter, a sound OR a sight word, ask your child to take aim and knock the cup over. They can kick the ball, roll it like a bowling ball or throw it!

Let's learn about measuring WEIGHT! I love the name of the female character in this video!
Can you make your own balance? See the examples below. Have fun measuring things from around your house and comparing to see which things are heavier or lighter than others! Can you predict which item is lighter or heavier before weighing?
